INSTALLATION OF A CERAMIC SINK

All fireclay sinks are handmade. A tolerance of +/- 2% in the size of a sink is common.
This tolerance if very important when the cabinets are being manufactured for any of our "Belfast" or "French Farmhouse" type of sink.

We recommend that you purchase your sink prior to your kitchen being made, to avoid last minute problems. It takes around 3 days to make a ceramic sink. No two sinks will ever be the same and they all have their own minute "quirks." These are not faults and are indicative of man-made ceramics.

The "Belfast" type of sink may be inset, flush or under mounted but will require some form of support. A simple wooden frame or strong internal bearers on the front and sides, connected by a shelf, for the sink to sit on, is usually the best solution.

CLEANING YOUR CERAMIC SINK

A non-abrasive liquid or cream cleanser will keep your ceramic sink spotless.
For "pan marks" usually seen a black or grey lines, use "Astonish" paste or "Barkeepers Friend." Both of which are available from us.

Never use bleach or abrasive cleaning agents as these tend to wear and damage the waste outlets.

CLEANING BRASS WASTES AND TAPS

Our non-tarnish brass wastes are coated using Physical Vapour Disposition, PVD for short.
This relatively new form of plating has successfully been used in the aircraft industry.
It transfers particles of titanium onto the original brass body.

Water marks on taps can be wiped off by using a light spray of Mr Sheen on kitchen towel. Wastes can be kept clean by using a mild solution of liquid or cream cleanser.
Never use bleach or abrasive cleaning agents on PVD coated items.

CARE OF TIMBER DRAINERS AND CHOPPING BOARDS

Before use and a 6 monthly intervals coat the timber with a good quality vegetable oil.
Avoid they extremes of wet and heat, such as leaving the timber in direct sunlight.

CLEANING YOUR GRANITE SINK

The best form of maintenance is frequent cleaning rather than a major clean on an occasional basis. For regular cleaning choose the mildest method that will do the job. Use a soft cloth or sponge with a liquid cleaner to remove everyday marks from your sink.

The surface of the sink is sealed, hygienic and hard, so more stubborn stains can be removed easily by scrubbing with an abrasive pad, such as a Scotchbrite scourer and a mildly abrasive cleaner such as Jif.

Never use a metal scouring pad or wire wool as these leave particles of metal behind which will rust. Avoid using concentrated bleach or products containing chlorinated solvents, as they can cause discolouration of the resin and will certainly damage the waste fittings.
